The texts used are in Wheelock.
1. Wheelock, pages 297-298 - Translate Section 8 of the "Loci Antiqui" - "Hannibal : The Second Punic War" - translation helps are given at the foot of the page.
2. Wheelock, pages 346-347 - Translate Section 36 of the "Loci Immūtātī" - "Delights of the Country - Pliny's Letter 5.18" - translation helps are given at the foot of the page.
The first footnote refers to "L.A. 11n. 1 and 3" - this is Wheelock's way of directing you to the Locī Antīquae 11, on page 300. The notes tell us that the "C." at the start of Pliny's name stands for "Gaius", and the "S." after his name stands for "salūtem dīcit"
