The photo on page 45 is of part of a carving showing a sacrificial bull and the reading of omens for a campaign on which Trajan was sending Hadrian.
The haruspex on the left, in a toga, is inspecting the entrails.
A victimārius is bending down to remove the entrails, and another victimārius stands behind him.
The popa with axe and bucket is the man who killed the bull.
