The Third Epistle of John
The following notes are intended to supplement, not replace, the readings from the Bible and the text book.

III John
The author and the themes parallel those of 1 & 2 John.
The epistle is addressed to a man names Gaius, whom John calls a dear friend. It is written to commend Gaius for helping Christian strangers in need, and to warn him against Diotrephes.

3 John v.5-7 - Gaius has helped traveling evangelists and missionaries.
3 John v.9 - Diotrephes was trying to take control of the local church.
3 John v.12 - John commends Demetrius
