The Book of the Prophet Joel :
The date of Joel's ministry is uncertain, but may have been about the same period as that of Amos - both Joel and Amos speak of swarms of locusts (Joel 1:4, Amos 4:9), a famine and drought (Joel 1:9-12, Amos 4:7), invaders from the north (Joel 2:20, Amos 7:17), and of similar judgment on Judah, Israel, and the nations.
Joel 2:2-11 - this is probably a picture of a great swarm of locusts, devouring everything in their path.
Joel 2:28-32 - these verses were quoted by Peter on the Day of Pentecost, as having been fulfilled at that time (Acts 2:16-21)
Joel 3:1 - the Valley of Jehoshaphat was another name for the plain of Megiddo, where king Jehoshaphat of Judah and king Ahaz of Israel were defeated by the Syrians (I Kings, chapter 22)
