Weekly Reading and Study Logs

These are suggested guides to help you cover the material each week. You are free to use any scheme of covering the readings which fits in with your personal Bible Study and Quiet Time, so long as you do read and think about the assigned portions of Scripture each week, and answer the questions on the e-mail Reports.

The Assignment each week consists of 2 parts :

  1. An e-mail Report - to be sent in by 9 am Monday on the specified date.
  2. A private Spiritual Journal, which is for your own spiritual growth and reflection. No-one will check up to see whether or not you do this part of your study of the Old Testament. However, this is a discipline which can be of great help to your ongoing spiritual life, and you are urged to incorporate some sort of written reflection into your daily Quiet Time.

For each daily portion of the Scripture, ask yourself :

  1. What does this portion of Scripture say to me ?
  2. Does it give a good example to follow ?
  3. Does it give a warning of something to avoid ?
  4. Does it contain a commandment of God for me to obey ?
  5. What am I going to do about it ?
  6. Does it call for a change in my point of view ? - How I think about something
  7. Does it call for a change in my way of life ? - How I behave, What I do

When studying a passage, ask yourself the following questions :

  1. WHO ?
  2. WHAT ?
  3. WHY ?
  4. WHEN ?
  5. WHERE ?

eg : Who says/does what ? What happens ? Why does something happen ? Where and when does it take place ?

You may print out the weekly Reading Logs and use them to keep a record of your studies :
