This Week's Assignment : Who am I ?
Each person described below is mentioned in chapter 10 of the textbook. Identify the person and write a half-page first-person account of his life (write as if you were the person)

- I traveled the Silk Road east from Europe and met Kublai Khan, the leader of the Mongols in China
- I went looking for "pepper and souls" and reached India
- I sailed West, looking for a new route to India, and found a new continent
- I set out to sail around the world, and although I was killed in the Philippines, some of my ships made it back to Portugal. I brought Christianity to the south Pacific Islanders
- I came from Spain with Columbus, and was the first Christian priest to be ordained in the New World. I became Bishop of Chiapas, and wanted to take care of the Indians
- I set up a community in Mexico, modeled on Thomas Moore's "Utopia"
- I was a Jesuit in Peru who designed a plan for Mission Stations
- I was the illegitimate son of a Spaniard and a freed slave woman. I became a Dominican friar, and am now counted amongst the saints
- I was a French Jesuit missionary to the Hurons who was killed by the Iroquois
- I set up a Baptist colony in Providence in 1639
- I was a friend of Ignatius Loyola, and traveled through India, Malaysia and Japan preaching and founding missions
- I was educated by Jesuits in Rome, learned Chinese and went to China as a missionary. I dressed like a Chinese scholar and translated Christian texts into Chinese
- I was a French Jesuit who traveled to Tonkin (Vietnam). Some of my converts also became missionaries
