REL 415 - Pauline Literature III

The Prison and Pastoral Epistles of Paul

Study Topics and Assignments
Week 11 - The Epistle to Titus

Scripture Readings

  • The Epistle to Titus
  • Acts 2:6-21 - Cretans were present at the Day of Pentecost, and probably carried the news of Jesus back home with them. These first Cretan hearers were probably Jewish or Jewish converts, and may not have told their Gentile neighbours about Jesus
  • Acts 27:7-15 - this is the only record of Paul visiting Crete, though Titus 1:5 implies that Paul and Titus had been together in Crete. From Titus 3:12 it seems that Paul left Crete and arrived in Macedonia - this does not correspond to the Missionary Journeys recorded in Acts, so may be evidence for Paul's initial release from prison in Rome, another Journey, and then a final imprisonment in Rome.
  • II Corinthians 7:5-7
  • II Corinthians 8:16-24
  • Galatians 2:1-3
  • II Timothy 4:10-11
