This Week's Assignment : Five Reflection Papers
Each Paper should be one to five pages in length
- Discuss the Navajo/Diné Religion
- Discuss the Religion of one of the Native American Peoples of the Eastern or South-Eastern USA. Your choice of Nation
- Discuss the Religion of one of the Native American Peoples of the West or South-Western USA, other than the Navajo/Diné. Your choice of Nation
- Discuss the Rastafarian Religion
- Discuss one of the other African Religions. Your choice of religion
When discussing a Religion, topics to include would be :
- Who or what is the supreme deity (if any)
- Are there other gods or spirits
- What is the account of creation (if any)
- Are there any "scriptures" or written texts, or is the religion transmitted orally
- How does one pray. Are there any specific prayers
- What (if any) are the "Rites of Passage" (ceremonies at various stages of life)
- What (if any) are the special festivals or ceremonies of the year
- Who are the religious leaders and how do they function - priests, shamans, teachers, elders, wise men/women, healers, musicians, storytellers ?
