Preparation for Bible Study

Settle down somewhere where you can be quiet and uninterrupted for your study period. It is helpful for maintaining your discipline of study if you consistently use the same place and time whenever possible.
Have your Bible, a study plan, notebook and pen or pencil, and whatever study aids you like to use.
A study plan need be nothing more complicated than "Today I will pick up where I left off yesterday, and read at least 5 verses".
As a means of spiritual preparation, either use your own words, or use a traditional form such as this one :

"Blessed Lord, who hast caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning :
Grant that we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them;
that, by patience and comfort of Thy holy Word,
we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life,
which Thou hast given us in our Savior Jesus Christ;
who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen"

To encourage yourself to keep up with your Bible Studies, remember :

"Study to show thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth."

2 Timothy 2:15

"From a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness :
that the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

2 Timothy 3:15-17
